At Adobe, we rely on so many open source software projects to build our own products, it would be hard to count them all. We also steward a number of projects that were either born in the open or released by us as open source.
Being active in the open source community benefits Adobe and the community in many ways: we get opportunities to work with partners on creating interoperable solutions and developers from around the world get to collaboratively customize solutions to solve their specific problems.
Standards
Adobe's standards like XMP, PDF, XDM and Adobe's contributions to open standards like SVG or OpenType ensure interoperability across platforms.
Open Source
With well over 1,000 Open Source projects such as Source Code Pro and Magento, Adobe contributes every day.
Apache Software Foundation
Our teams contribute to a number of Open Source technologies and communities that are core to our success. We are very active in contributing to projects like Apache OpenWhisk, Apache Felix, Apache Oak, Apache Aries and Apache Jackrabbit. Additionally, some projects within Apache started as donations from Adobe, such as Apache Flex and Apache Cordova.

Content Authenticity Initiative
Adobe founded the Content Authenticity Initiative (CAI) in 2019 to foster the development of tools that verify the provenance of digital content, and continues to lead the initiative today. Since then, CAI has grown into a collaborative effort across major media and technology companies, civil organizations, and many others, all working to build open-source tools for verifying the origin of digital media, including whether it was created or edited via generative AI.

Source Sans Pro is a set of OpenType fonts that have been designed to work well in user interface (UI) environments.

Built as an open source project, Magento Open Source forms the foundation of Adobe Commerce. The project has a vibrant, global community of over 1000 contributors and 60 repositories on GitHub. The open source core of Adobe Commerce drives its extensible architecture, modern features, and enterprise grade security.

Open source at Adobe isn't a single product — it's a company-wide practice combining: (1) an internal program office that coordinates policy, legal compliance, and culture; (2) utilization of open source software inside Adobe's own products; (3) active contribution to major foundations like Apache; and (4) stewardship of Adobe-originated projects (Magento, Source fonts, Brackets/PhoneGap historically) that were released to or born in the open source community.
